I AM BLESSED. But maybe your life doesn’t feel like that right now. Trust me, I know too well how hard it can be when you are serving and following God and all these people around you seem to be living in God's favor while you are left out. Many times I have watched as people got exactly what I wanted and had been praying for. It is frustrating, to say the least.
I would question God, wondering why in the world He was blessing all these people who didn’t deserve it. Like, hello does she even pray? I had been praying and speaking in faith for that gift and she outa of left field gets MY GIFT. But honestly, I am so grateful that I went through a season of sowing without an immediate harvest because I learned so much, and now the blessings that I am receiving are much more valuable.
Let’s look at some passages about being blessed:
Psalm 112: 1-3: “Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who delights greatly in His commandments. His descendants will be mighty on earth; the generation of the uprights will be blessed. Wealth and riches will be in His house, and His righteousness endures forever.”
Luke 6:38: “Give and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom.”
I was looking over these scriptures a while back when I started wondering if Jesus was blessed. That may sound like a crazy question, but if we look at everything Jesus had to go through, it would seem as if He was not walking in blessing. If you saw a man being whipped and beaten, put on a cross, cursed and betrayed by His own people, blessed would be the last word I would think of. So then I started to ask myself what exactly it means to be blessed. A man clothed in purple, wearing a crown of thorns while being mocked and tortured, doesn't seem to be blessed to me, but rather cursed.
So what does it mean to be blessed? Maybe being truly blessed has nothing to do with the amount of money in your account or the number of followers you have.
I believe the biggest blessing is the fact that we can even have a relationship with God. The fact that He would even consider intimately knowing us, selfish beings, is beautiful.
I don't think 'good things' is the end goal of a blessed life. The result of living a blessed life would be a deep personal relationship with the creator of the heavens and the earth.
I want to be a blessed woman of God. Blessed in the sense that I am in the presence of God; blessed because He is my heart's one desire, and He is all that I need.
